That answer surprises people who have lived through enterprise software timelines. So it is worth explaining what actually consumes the calendar, and what removes it.

Why do most enterprise builds take so long?

The slow part is rarely the code. It is everything around the code.

Procurement and legal review eat weeks before anyone writes a line. Data access requests sit in queues. Security questionnaires bounce back and forth. By the time a vendor is cleared to see a production system, a month has often passed and nothing has been built.

Computer vision that verifies a property handover against a per-property baseline, checking for damage, missing items, and cleanliness across a hospitality portfolio, needs real-world data and tuning before it can be trusted. A predictive lead-scoring layer running millions of leads and 3,000 outbound touches a day, powering a sales floor of more than 100 reps, is a decision-support system that grows over time.

The point is not that every system ships in 15 days. The point is that the first useful version of almost any system can ship fast. After that, you iterate against live feedback instead of guessing in a spec document.

How do you set honest expectations?

Plan for a focused first workflow in weeks. Plan for iteration after that. Resist the urge to scope the whole platform before anything is live, because that is the single biggest reason builds stall.

Get the slow, non-technical work moving in parallel. Start data access and security review on day one, not after a discovery phase. Pick the one workflow where a working system would change a number you care about, and let that be the wedge.
